If only someone would do justice to Victor Hugo's The Hunchback of Notre Dame on the silver screen, and I'll tell you why! There are several terrible movies dating back as far as the 1930s, but none tell Victor Hugo’s full story and fully explore the infatuation of Quasimodo as he competes for the love of Esmeralda who is so beautiful many others compete for her love too.
It’s a tragedy for her, she does not ask to be beautiful, she simply is in the same way Tess is in Tess of the d'Urbervilles, and men do terrible things to her to have her as their own, and it’s a tragedy for Quasi who simply wants to be loved with no conditions of his own. One day, I am sure a brave film producer will make the movie as the book is written.
